WVTZ 335 - 5 DAYS LAKE MANYARA / NGORONGORO / SERENGETI
Day 1 Nairobi / Lake Manyara
Pick up from your Nairobi hotel in the early morning all set for your departure for Lake Manyara National Park, stopping at Namanga border town for immigration formalities and at Arusha town for lunch. Arrive in time for a game drive during which a fantastic array of bird life can be seen including flamingos that breed in the lake's alkaline waters. The park also offers a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley and the fig forest here is a good place to see monkeys and some of the 350 species of birds that have been recorded here. With luck, you may spot the tree-climbing lions for which the park is famous. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
Day 2 Ngorongoro
An early breakfast will be followed by departure for Ngorongoro for a full day crater tour with a picnic lunch. The crater is 14.5km wide and is home to all the big five and hence the same may be seen. Hippos, cheetah, antelopes and the spotted hyena abound as well as flamingos in the crater lakes. In the evening ascend up and out of the steep and narrow crater walls for dinner and overnight at a lodge situated on the crater rim.
Day 3 Ngorongoro/Serengeti
After breakfast, depart the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for Serengeti National Park via the pre-historic site at Olduvai Gorge, which was discovered by the famous archaeologist Dr L S B leaky. The park covers 12,944 km? of open plains making it one of the largest in the world. The rocky out-crops referred to us 'kopjes' in the eastern part of the park are of scenic beauty and occasionally various cats can be seen lazing on them. The park contains very vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes. After your game drive you will retire for the night at a lodge after dinner.
Day 4 Serengeti
Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge or camp in the mid afternoon. The term 'Serengeti' mean 'endless plains' in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene off the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra, which occurs between the Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara. Eagles, flamingo, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, heron, kite, pelican, crane and guinea fowl are among the birds that can be seen in the park. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
Day 5 Serengeti/Nairobi
After breakfast, depart the Serengeti for Arusha for lunch followed by your onward transfer to Nairobi via Namanga border town for immigration formalities, arriving in the late evening.
WVTZ 335 - LAKE MANYARA/NGORONGORO/SERENGETI/TARANGIRE (6 DAYS)
Day 1 Nairobi/Lake Manyara
Pick from your Nairobi hotel in the early morning. Depart for Lake Manyara National Park for a late afternoon/early evening game drive via Namanga border town for immigration formalities and Arusha town for lunch. The park is renowned for it's bird life, which includes flamingos and Egyptian geese as well as its tree-climbing lions. The park is small in size and the time you spend there will be sufficient to cover the park exhaustively. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro for a full day crater tour, taking picnic lunches with you. This visit will actually give you the highest chances of spotting the rare black rhino. The crater is 670 meters deep. The rest of the big five may be seen. Other species encountered include cheetah, grant's and Thompson?s gazelle, the common zebra, spotted hyena and wildebeest. Flamingos may also be seen on the crater lake. In between tracking game, you will have a break for lunch at the Ngoitoktok springs picnic site. In the evening ascend up and out of the crater to spend the night at a lodge on the crater rim.
Day 3 Ngorongoro/Serengeti
After breakfast depart the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for the Serengeti National Park via the pre-historic site at Olduvai Gorge. The gorge museum has great wealth of the remains of various flora and fauna from the early man era. Continue to the Serengeti for an afternoon game drive, lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
Day 4 Serengeti
Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge or campsite in the mid afternoon. It is possible to view all the big five. Animals here are seen in very large herds, especially wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes. The park is one of the largest in the world; it's animal concentration and abundance is unequalled. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra occurs in this park in June/July. In the parks central plains there are carnivores like lion, leopard, hyenas and cheetah. Rest of meals and overnight at a lodge.
Day 5 Serengeti/Tarangire
After breakfast, depart Serengeti for Tarangire National Park, lunch en route. The park has an atmosphere of remoteness and has fewer visitors than all the other parks in Tanzania's entire northern circuit. Blue monkeys, hornbills, pelicans, herons can be seen as well as elephants in large herds, cheetah, jackal, fish eagle, marabou stork and hippos. Dinner and overnight at a lodge.
Day 6 Tarangire/Nairobi
After breakfast proceed on a game drive then depart for Arusha for lunch and your onward transfer to Nairobi via Namanga border town for immigration formalities, arriving in the evening.
